Head Chef- MaryAnn Salcedo

A New York native, MaryAnn, received her culinary arts degree from the Institute of Culinary Education. Her extensive resume begins with positions in several restaurants and bakeries in New York that eventually led her to a position of Head Chef at many well known establishments. Her most notable role, as of yet, is being the exquisite Sous Chef for Chef Gordon Ramsey on all three seasons of Hell’s Kitchen (Fox’s Reality cooking competition). Mary Ann has recently brought her incredible talents to local Pasadena’s, Neomeze. Neomeze is providing Pasadena with what is considered Mediterranean tapas. During my visit, which has been followed by at least 5 more in the last month, I experienced some of the head chef’s top picks. The Scampi Prawns were accompanied by a parsley puree and parmesan crisp. The dish that really caught my interest was a Mexican- Japanese fusion of Grilled Albacore Tuna with a Mango Guacamole. The side of Spicy BBQ Won Ton chips left me wanting more. And after what I had just experienced I couldn’t resist desert. The Chocolate Bread pudding sealed the deal knowing that it was served with a Bourbon Vanilla Sauce with Frangelico.

Night Life/Bar Scene:

This is one place you should never refuse an invitation to… And you’re ALL invited! Neomeze has finally provided the city of Pasadena with an outstanding lounge that it was regretfully missing. Even though it’s located directly on the Old Town Colorado Boulevard strip it has still found a way to be demur. The small hallway that leads down to a serene dim lit setting simply describes its humble addition to the Pasadena nightlife. Inside you will find yourself amongst a few cushy couches and leather bound tables that will have you appreciating the décor. A fully stocked bar with a substantial wine and beer list will give you many options! A hot spot Thursday through Saturday with experienced, resident DJ’s Dave Duran and Matt Frankie spinning the best of lounge and deep/funky house music. That isn’t all though… Neo also has a wonderful Weekday schedule. Wednesday is a never miss day for myself and everyone else that I have invited along with me. Neomeze has acquired a fabulous interpretation of Frank Sinatra, Max Vontaine. The vibe that this young man provides leaves men impressed and the ladies in awe! There is also lovely, back patio dining (heaters provided for cold weather). I whole heartedly encourage you to join the experience…
